Mieux vaut voir le film avant de lire ce qui suit ^^

Satire de l’autorité, des hiérarchies et des systèmes politiques (capitalisme, communisme…) cette comédie de science-fiction s’amuse des travers de nos sociétés sur Terre. Les habitants de la planète « Pluke » maitrisent une technologie avancée et pratiquent la téléportation à travers les galaxies mais leur société se complait dans une barbarie sociale sans fard. Ses habitants pointent par exemple un scanneur de la taille d’un briquet sur leur congénères : la couleur (en dehors de toute autre considération) qui s’affiche indique le rang, le rapport social et par conséquent le comportement à adopter. De même on se prosterne devant les « pantalons jaunes » qui sont signe d’une richesse matérielle supérieure. Télépathes, ils vivent par le mensonge et entre deux marchandages ne songent qu’au prochain coup bas… en attendant de se soumettre – sans même esquisser une quelconque résistance – à la punition de la boite « avec ou sans clous »

Le film fourmille de trouvailles gestuelles, de codes inventés qui agissent comme des miroirs de nos sociétés, de véhicules poétiques, d’objets qui sont souvent autant d’allusions comiques à une sordide réalité (la cage dans laquelle les artistes sont tenus de se produire). L’aspect visuel du film avec ce choix du « low tech », cette usure, la rouille omniprésente réjouissent l’œil.

Les planètes de Philémon et d’Alice doivent se trouver de ce côté de la « Tenture » (voir lexique plus bas)

ll est amusant de penser que la censure russe – le film date de 1986 – sans doute trop déroutée par son côté surréaliste a laissé passer ce film sans sourciller. Lorsque qu’on sait les déboires de Tarkovsky…
